NIHB funding approved. Now accepting virtual and in-person clients in Toronto at Islington and Bloor! I provide individual, couple and family counselling. I also offer in-home sessions and canine assisted counselling.
I believe in building on the strengths my clients bring to me by improving their lives and removing barriers such as anxiety, depression and emotional conflict. They are hoping for happiness, contentment and enrichment and I want to help them achieve their goals. We are all seeking better connections with friends, loved ones and family and I believe in personal growth and lifelong learning.
I specialize in helping people with anxiety and mental health issues such as depression, bi-polar disorder and other psychiatric conditions. I have lived experience with family members with schizophrenia (my younger brother) and depression (my father) and I offer compassion and understanding. As a Canadian born first generation Chinese-Canadian I can understand the immigrant experience. Professionally, I have over 25 years of experience as a crisis psychiatric therapist, school social worker, child protection worker and post-secondary education counsellor and I leverage that experience when working with clients.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to improve your life and to help yourself and those you love to connect better. I offer free 15 minute phone consultations to see if we would be a good fit and welcome any questions you may have.

Accepting new patients. I provide in-person counselling sessions in Toronto and virtual sessions for individuals in Ontario.
No two lives are ever the same – each of our life journeys is shaped by personal experiences, challenges, and hopes that are uniquely our own. I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story, exactly as it is, in your own time.
My own therapeutic goals as a mental health practitioner is through understanding one’s unique experiences, emotions, and cognitions to facilitate effective behavioural change. This is in line with emotion-focused therapy (EFT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). These techniques are effective in assisting individuals from a multitude of cultures in achieving meaningful and lasting change. However, I use a range of other modalities in my practice that align with my clients’ goals and preferences.
Feel free to reach out to me if you would like some help to navigate life’s challenges and make meaningful changes in your life. I offer free 15-minute phone consultations to explore how I can help you and to answer any questions you may have.

It can be daunting to do this thing called life. To wake up every day and find purpose, meaning, joy. To be “productive” members of society. To show up for ourselves and others in the ways that we want to.
I take a very relational approach to counselling. I believe people are the experts in their own lives, and every person’s journey and experiences are unique to them. My perception about how to approach personal growth is that it is not necessarily about knowing “the path”, but instead understanding the terrain and learning how to best navigate it. To achieve this goal, I utilize trauma-informed, evidence-based practices such as CBT, narrative therapy, and arts-based therapeutic modalities. And, as a Second City graduate, I believe that humor is an integral part of healing, so I balance this within my practice.
My style of counseling is gracious, compassionate, and direct. I use plain language and do not shy away from the mess. Working through challenges and unpacking and re-discovering who we are and want to be, is not a linear process. But with dedication and appropriate modalities, they are achievable goals.
While my area of specialization is working with men, I am a registered social worker and clinical counsellor with over six years of experience working with a diverse range of individuals in a broad range of capacities and contexts. My areas of focus are working with people who have experienced trauma and vicarious trauma and who are experiencing personal challenges that are negatively impacting their lives and well-being, including break-ups, anxiety, grief, depression, anger, and self-doubt/self-esteem issues.
If you feel as though you are ready to take a step in the direction of change, I would love to hear from you.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as an actuary—a profession grounded in precision, analysis, and long-range thinking. This background uniquely shapes my approach to therapy: thoughtful, strategic, and deeply attuned to patterns beneath the surface. I bring the same depth and intellectual curiosity to understanding the human experience, helping clients uncover insights that are often missed in more conventional approaches.
My approach combines rigorous analytical thinking with a finely tuned emotional lens. With decades of experience working with emotions, I can help you determine when to listen to them, when to challenge them, and how to use them effectively to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to help you harness emotional insight as a tool for real, lasting change. I specialize in working with individuals who haven’t found success with traditional therapy models—those who feel like something is missing or that they haven’t been fully understood. If you’re looking for a therapist who can think outside the box, meet you with warmth and precision, and help you make sense of your world, I’d be honoured to work with you.
